Are flaxseeds safe to eat after heating?

I frequently bake with ground flaxseed, often mixing a small amount of flaxseed into muffins, pancakes or waffles, quick breads, and the like.Consider purchasing the book Flax your way to Better Health by Jane Reinhardt-Martin, RD and also visiting Jane's web site. She will also be publishing a flax cookbook early in 2004. It is considered *common wisdom* that heating flaxseed OIL is not a good thing to do. I am still tracking down the actual research that validates this information, but in the meantime, I think it is prudent to only use flaxseed oil without heating it.
