Why don't you put calories and other nutrients on all of your recipes? How can I figure this out myself?
A - Actually, I was influenced by Jane Brody (New York Times personal health columnist and author) many years ago when she explained her answer to this same question in one of her cookbooks. She and I both have put the focus on using only healthy ingredients and consuming reasonable portion sizes, instead of focusing on the minutia of deciding whether to list the calories or other nutrients down to the decimal point or even wondering how much of the olive oil added to the pan is still left in the pan (or on your plate). If you wish to try to figure out a "best guess" of the nutrients in a recipe, you can try using this web site at the University of Illinois . Remember to divide the recipe totals by the number of portions made. FAQ posted 8/04 These questions and answers are intended to be of a general informative nature.
