Best Oatmeal in the World
- 1
serving oatmeal (preferrably steel-cut, see note below),
cooked
- 1
apple
- 1/4
cup unflavored low-fat yogurt
- 1/4
cup soy protein powder
- 1
Tbs. flaxseed oil
- 1
tsp. or more (to taste) grated lemon and/or orange peel
- 1
handful each, any or all of the following: strawberries,
blueberries, almonds, pecans, raspberries, bananas
Directions:
- Core
apple and puree in blender. Add and blend in yogurt,
soy protein powder, and flaxseed oil. Stir
in lemon and/or orange zest.
- Top
with any or all of the remianing ingredients.
According
to Janet, this tastes almost like a fruity dessert!

Best Oatmeal in the World (cont.)
Steel-cut
oats or Scotch oats or Irish oatmeal are all names for
groats that have been cut into 2 to 3 pices and not rolled.
They take considerably longer to cook than rolled oats
(follow directions on the box) and have a decidely chewy
texture.
